Safety, sensations and contraindications

An aesthetic treatment using ultrasound, radiofrequency and light is not trivial. Here is what to know before a session, and the rules we ask equipped centres to follow.

The device's instructions for use prevail. The list below reflects contraindications usually applied to these families of technologies. It is general and non-exhaustive, and does not replace the instructions for use or medical advice.

Usual contraindications

General

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Current or recent cancer
  • Heart disease, clotting disorders
  • Epilepsy
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Minors

Energy-related

  • Pacemaker or any implanted electronic device
  • Metal implant or prosthesis in the treated area
  • Lesion, wound, infection or inflammation on the area
  • Impaired skin sensation
  • Recent surgery on the area
  • Photosensitivity (condition or medication) for LED

Sensations during and after

  • Ultrasound: a slight buzzing may be noticed, especially near bones.
  • Radiofrequency: warmth that should remain comfortable; temporary redness is common.
  • LED: usually no particular sensation; red light is visible, infrared is not.

Any burning, pain or discomfort must be reported immediately so the practitioner can adjust or stop the session.

  • No promised results: outcomes vary between individuals.

What the treatment is not

AdipoXtrem is an aesthetic device. It does not treat obesity, does not replace medical care and is no substitute for a balanced diet and physical activity.
